"The Big Mistake" Cocktail

By husband of Rachael Ray,  John Cusimano this was a fun little cocktail to make with an intersting history!

"This drink is traditionally called Negroni Sbagliato (Italian for "a mistaken Negroni"). Basically, it's a Negroni prepared with sparkling white wine instead of gin and was likely invented because the bartender either ran out of gin or mistakenly added Prosecco. Here, I'm substituting sparkling rose wine for the gin and calling it 'The Big Mistake'." —John

  • 1 ½ ounces Campari
  • 1 ½ ounces sweet vermouth
  • 1 ½ ounces sparkling rose wine
  • Orange peel, for garnish
  • Add the Campari and sweet vermouth to an ice-filled rocks glass. Stir to chill, then top with the sparkling rose wine. Garnish with orange peel.
