Cherry Crostata

Image
Daphne Oz made this on The Chew --looked so simple --that anyone could do it especially with a premade crust --BUT ALAS - NO !!! I am a terrible baker --sauce oozed all over out of crust --the flavor was great if you don't look closely at the edges! Posting both pictures for you to see. 1 pound cherries (stems and pits removed) 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice 1/2 teaspoon orange zest 3 tablespoons cornstarch 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1 pinch salt 1 recipe Carla’s Perfect Pie Crust (http://abc.go.com/shows/the-chew/recipes/carla-hall-pie-crust) (or 1 store-bought pie crust) all-purpose (flour for dusting) 2 tablespoons orange marmalade (plus 1 tablespoon water) 1 tablespoon turbinado sugar vanilla ice cream (to serve) Preheat oven to 400??F. In a large bowl, add the cherries, orange juice, zest, cornstarch, sugar and a pinch of salt, and mix thoroughly to combine. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough out to a 10-inch circle, about 1/4-inch thick. Transfer dough to a bak...

Low-Calorie Gluten-Free Sweet Potato Lasagna GUEST BLOG

My daughter Katie made this and raved how good it was both gluten free and low carb --her friend Katelyn saw it on the Today show. Lobster Tails with Pastis Creme & Asparagus Spears

Image
From The Chew show Michael Symon was sous chef for  Elizabeth Karmel. Some of her best recipes are the result of a little experimentation as is  the case for her Lobster Tails with Pastis Creme and Asparagus Spears. She was simply curious as to what would happen if she added Pastis to lobster, knowing already how delicious grilled lobster is. She’s certainly a pro when it comes to barbecue. This recipe was very quick and easy to make and would be awesome with some crunchy bread to grab the rest of the sauce. A few notes I used Pernod as that is what I had on hand also had to put a little foil wrap under as my lobster tails came presliced along the outside part. This was DELICIOUS! Also used store bought creme fraiche. 1 C homemade creme fraiche (or store-bought) + more to serve (recipe blow) 4 sprigs fresh tarragon (or 1 tsp dried) kosher salt 4 lobster tails (5-7 oz each) – defrosted if frozen, legs and cartilage removed from the belly 1/4 C Pastis (Ricard o...
